MUSEUMS-TERRAZZO
BARiT received the “Innovation Award for Architecture and Floors” in 2002 for the innovative nature of BARiT MUSEUMS-TERRAZZO. The panel thickness and high load capacity technically convinced the expert jury.
Due to its modest homogeneity BARiT MUSEUMS-TERRAZZO blends harmoniously into sensitive colour concepts. The monochrome, single-colour design offers a variety of aesthetic qualities. Ideal for giving rooms, employees, guests and customers a special ambience.
The museum terrazzo by BARiT in the Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration.
The concept of the Anglo-American campus university has gained a foothold in Austria in recent years and found its architectural culmination in the "library & learning centre".
The Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU) is a true masterpiece, consisting of a wide variety of buildings by internationally renowned architects. The lecture hall centre was designed by BUSarchitektur ZT GmbH from Vienna, and the department building by Estudio Carme Pinós S. L. from Barcelona.
The heart of the university is the spherical and spaceship-like "library & learning centre", which impresses with its futuristic design. It was designed by the architect Zaha Hadid, and the general planning was carried out by Vasko und Partner Ingenieure, Vienna. The light-flooded rooms, especially the assembly hall, are visually and functionally supported by the museum terrazzo from BARiT.
Stairs and ramps wind their way up the building to the sixth floor, with dynamic shapes and few right angles making the atmosphere even more enterprising. The structures intertwine and yet are separated by so-called canyons, which provide wide air spaces, which in turn convey the feeling of being outside rather than in a closed building. All ramps and stairs lead into the central atrium, which is very inviting due to the flowing edges and the bright furnishings. The large windows on the ceilings and walls, which let in a lot of daylight, also create a positive atmosphere.
