floor description:

When choosing products for the kitchen floor, attention was paid to longevity, regionality, durability, freedom from emissions and pollutants, and cleaning efficiency. Therefore, the decision was made in favour of a floor construction by BARiT.

An important additional requirement was the reduction of noise and impact sound. A kitchen concept with front cooking corresponds to today's zeitgeist of customer proximity and transparency. However, noises such as the clattering of dishes come from an open kitchen and can be perceived as disturbing to varying degrees during concentrated work. A seamless floor covering offers the advantage here that it is quiet and absorbs shocks.

BARiT installed upper composite waterproofing in accordance with W3-I, performance class C in accordance with DIN 18534-1 and DIN 18534-3 in all areas exposed to wetness when constructing the floor structure. The slip-resistant kitchen floor in R 12 V 4 ensures compliance with accident prevention requirements in wet areas. The terrazzo flooring was installed in a layer thickness of 8 mm in the slip resistance classes of R11, R 10 and R 9.

project description:

One of the most exciting office buildings was built for Axel Springer by Rem Koolhaas of OMA. The 13-storey office building has 52,000 m² of space for 3,000 employees, with terraces opening up to the atrium to create attractive communication and interaction spaces, and a central area on the ground floor with the open kitchen of the Canteen by Pace staff restaurant.

Creativity always arises when people discuss and exchange ideas with each other. When this takes place in a nice atmosphere and over a good meal, the lunch table transforms to a networking place.

From the very beginning, sustainability has been a top priority in the selection and search for the right products. Catering for 3,000 people is the job of catering manager Marco Roland of PACE Paparazzi Catering & Event GmbH, a wholly owned subsidiary of Axel Springer. After two years of operation, Marco Roland says today. "I think the kitchen floor is really great, cleaning is efficient, nothing gets washed out, everything is watertight and we have zero joints in the floor. In keeping with our high architectural standards in the Canteen, the kitchen floor has an even and calm look."
