Tightness of the kitchen floor takes centre stage

After positive experiences with a BARiT floor construction for commercial kitchens, the client and the architects at wurm + wurm decided in favour of a BARiT floor construction. A hollow floor with structural waterproofing and a moisture sensor system was chosen for its auditability, an active monitoring system and a seamless surface.

Benjamin Schaller from the specialist planning office for commercial kitchens IB Schaller in Karlsruhe planned the new commercial kitchen for a modern company catering facility. In addition, technical details such as the planning of drainage, the design of slip resistance classes in accordance with DIN 10506 and the hygienic implementation with equipment plinths were also a priority for the floor construction.

The quality of the kitchen floor is always determined by the craftsmanship of the details: the installation of the drainage system is coupled with the installation of the kitchen floor in order to achieve clean and tight connections. The BARiT upper composite seal ensures tightness, while the BARiT kitchen floor optimises durability, hygiene and therefore sustainability.

BARiT Kunstharz-Belagstechnik GmbH has done an efficient planning for modern canteen kitchens

In the new SWR media centre in Baden-Baden, an innovative floor construction was implemented for the approx. 540 m² canteen kitchen, which not only meets the structural requirements for fire protection, hygiene, impact sound and water tightness, but also integrates pioneering technologies. The planning and execution of this sophisticated kitchen was supported by BARiT's expertise.

The media centre combines the existing radio and television complexes and offers space for around 330 modern editorial and office workstations as well as a conference and event area. Special attention was paid to the new canteen, which is both architecturally and culinarily impressive. The architects from Wurm und Wurm and the catering planners from engineering firm ibs-schaller have created an environment that promotes communication and creativity.
